Palmira works with the Escola Superior de Disseny i Art Llotja as part of the practical side of its Furniture Design module

Out of a desire to support young designers, Palmira has signed a partnership agreement with the Escola Superior de Disseny i Art Llotja (Llotja Higher Art and Design School), whereby students of the Furniture Design module have had to design their own pieces of furniture based on a briefing provided by Palmira.

Additionally, the agreement signed also establishes a practical training programme offering students the possibility of work experience placements at the premises of Palmira and which will begin this very year as well as the brand’s involvement in any events or fairs organised by the school’s students and its participation in conferences and day events throughout the academic year.

The Escola Superior de Disseny i Art Llotja is a long-standing School of Higher Education in Barcelona that offers a wide range of specialities and educational levels, constituting an example almost of a link between the various fields of knowledge and artistic creation. The agreement between Palmira and the Llotja school is therefore a step further in its commitment to support young talent in the field of design.

The exercise, which formed part of the 4th year module on Furniture Design, consisted of an initial visit to the premises of the company Palmira, where the students learnt about the company’s operations and infrastructure and received the briefing for the order to be filled.

As a practical exercise, the students created a new line of stools for Palmira Selección, the exclusive line of high-quality products manufactured by the brand with unique designs by designers such as Yago Sarri, Lázaro Rosa-Violán, Claire Davies and Andreu Carulla, amongst others.

Following the conducting of a market analysis and studying of Palmira’ catalogue, the students could each present up to three different projects consisting of a conceptual design and a final design. The final designs, of great quality, were recently presented to the faculty, which included Guillem Ferra, Ricard Melet and Rafel Oliva, and a team from Palmira made up of Esteve Palmira and Juanjo Rodilla.
